At Salesforce, we believe that talent is equally distributed, but opportunity is not—and we’re committed to closing that gap. That’s why a core focus of our workforce development strategy is preparing the next generation of leaders—especially young people from underserved and underrepresented communities—with the education, skills, and access to opportunities to thrive.
In November, we were proud to once again partner with Movement to Work and Catch 22 to deliver a two-week work experience program that’s designed to inspire the next generation of Trailblazers. Movement to Work is a jobs program targeted at underrepresented communities and NEET (not in employment, education, or training) individuals. The program is driven in partnership with Catch 22 — a non-profit organization that delivers services that build resilience and aspiration in people of all ages and within communities across the UK. This installment of the program was particularly special, as we were joined by Slalom, a key Salesforce consulting partner, as the Partner Program Sponsor. Slalom has played a critical part in the program, explaining the role of our partners within the wider Salesforce ecosystem. Through engaging presentations, the 30 Salesforce Movement to Work participants learned all about the exciting career opportunities the ecosystem offers.
Kirstin Steinmetz, Director of Workforce Development at Salesforce, shares her thoughts on the need for combined efforts in addressing the digital skills gap. “Salesforce believes that business has a responsibility to upskill the current and future workforce to make sure that people, regardless of their background, don't get left behind. Collaborating with Slalom on the Movement to Work programme allows us to work towards our mission of supporting untapped talent unlock their potential.”
As a committed Talent Alliance member, Slalom has consistently engaged in initiatives aimed at diversifying their workforce and enriching the Salesforce ecosystem. They’ve achieved this by partnering with Salesforce in the Salesforce Pathfinder program as a key sponsor of Supermums, whose mission is to empower caregivers to find well-paid, flexible work with Salesforce. Slalom runs their own Salesforce Academy in upskilling and reskilling efforts. They also participated in talent-focused discussions at Dreamforce 2022.
Clayton White, Slalom’s Partner Account Manager at Salesforce, shares his thoughts on working with such a dedicated partner. “Slalom is committed to working towards making the future better within our shared communities. With its fiercely human-centric approach, Slalom is passionate about the inclusion and development of underserved and underrepresented communities. Having worked closely with Slalom colleagues, it's clear they're having a significant impact in empowering customers to dream bigger, move faster, and build better tomorrows for all.”
From a Slalom perspective, getting involved in global and regional talent initiatives makes perfect sense, both business-wise and values-wise. According to Emily Freeman, Salesforce Consultant at Slalom, “The incredible mission of the Salesforce Movement to Work program aligns so closely with Slalom’s vision and purpose to create a safe, diverse, and inclusive workforce. Inclusion is more than representation by the numbers. It's a breadth of perspective, and the Movement to Work program truly represents this. It’s a real privilege to have been involved."
